The Project

Tasneem Damji Coaching empowers senior high school students to plan for their postsecondary lives, work, and education. I worked with Tasneem to create her brand strategy, visual identity, custom website and illustrations, and brand messaging.

The challenge (and fun!) of working on Tasneem’s brand was that it had to appeal to and communicate effectively with both students and parents. We needed the brand to feel informative but not boring; approachable and playful without being childish.

The students and parents that Tasneem works with are often experiencing high levels of stress as they navigate the liminal space between childhood and adulthood, facing a series of decisions that can feel overwhelming. Tasneem and I discussed the importance of not only injecting some light, ease, and fun to the process for her clients, but also dignifying and validating the very real emotions that they are feeling.

During our brand strategy workshops, we were able to get really clear on Tasneem's business vision and values. It was important to Tasneem that her brand reflected her personal dedication to providing equal access to education.
We settled on a stationery theme for the brand’s visual identity — but instead of a formal, buttoned-up aesthetic, I covered it with playful doodles!
In order to reflect Tasneem’s storied life and work experiences in and out of academia, we added photo album styled pictures of her travels and family.
